Hi! I’m Terri Kolodziej (ko-low-g). I am a mother of twins, an Avon representative & now a world traveler. I’ve been married for over 20 years, a mom for 20 years, 16 years as an Avon representative & I’ve been traveling all my life.

I’ll be sharing my previous experiences & my new adventures along my journey of life. Sharing strategies I’ve used while starting & running a home business with 4 year old twins through the college years. I’ll also include tips & techniques for running your own business from home, phone & anywhere you may travel.

I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart, starting with a craft business selling at local events, in a store & as an herb farmer with organic produce selling at the local farmers market & vendor events. I’ve always read “how to books” to learn more & I play with the idea of writing my own book someday. In the meantime, this blog is where I will begin sharing some of my “how to” tips.

How It All Started

Having twins at 40 was a big game-changer. I remember in my mid-twenties saying I didn’t want to wait ’til I was 30 to have kids. Now I add “I didn’t mean 40!” But seriously,  I wouldn’t change a thing, except maybe more time to sleep when they were young.

I was a stay-at-home mom for the first 3 years of their lives, then at 4, I started working part-time in a deli on weekends. When they started full-time kindergarten, I got to play “beat the bus” every day. See, the bus driver wouldn’t let them off the bus unless someone was there to greet them. We’d be in the car waiting for the bus, the girls would get on & I’d head to work. They really wanted me to be at work an hour earlier so I usually ran around like crazy trying to make up for the missed unpaid time, then get everything taken care of so I could meet the bus on time. This got old real quick but I didn’t know of any other options at the time especially since they were going to let me be off for the summers & let the college kids work.

One day I picked up an Avon brochure. They had the only lip balm that ever worked for me & I got it from my mother-in-law who knew someone at school who knew someone that sold Avon. She’d buy me a dozen lip balms & put them in with birthday & Christmas gifts.   So needless to say, I was excited to actually see an Avon book. I called the local rep with an order & she sent it to me in the mail. Inside it had a list of 10 reasons to start an Avon business. I thought this could get me my lip balms, a little discount, girl stuff since I had 2 girls & maybe I could quit the deli. When summer came I quit the deli because it was just too much physically. I kept working my Avon business. Today my team spans all 50 states, is still growing & I get to travel the world. I especially like the trips when Avon pays the whole bill!!  I hope that my girls decide to join me at some point along this Avon journey and I hope you will join me at Journey of an Avon Lady.
